General Problems of Engineer Education
77-30569/323937 Monitoring and estimation of students’ knowledge using module-rating system
# 02, February 2012 This article deals with different ways to improve module-rating system applied to “Engineering Graphics” department. Authors analyzed features of current and scheduled academic performance ratings. It was suggested to control academic performance ratings of students continuously during the whole term. Conducted survey of graphical tasks’ labor intensity showed that students spent more time in classes than 30 or 40 years ago; the quality level of the training didn’t increase proportionally to time spent. Propositions about revision of set of disciplines in general and reducing the number non-core disciplines in favor of fundamental and technical disciplines were made. Authors suggested to use new methods to motivate the students; these methods are widely used at BMSTU.
77-30569/262388 Proposals for the use of modeling complex simulation and modeling center SIC RKO 4 Central Research Institute of the Defense Ministry in the process of teaching students at the BMSTU Military Institute.
# 10, October 2011 Assessed possibilities and expediency of using modeling complex, created for international command and staff exercises in theater missile defense, for the improvement of forms and methods of teaching students at the BMSTU Military Institute.
77-30569/233419 Innovative technology of training engineers of underwater robotics and marine industry in Russia
# 10, October 2011 The author tells about scientific and methodological treatment and evaluates a large - very widespread abroad but almost unknown in our country - innovative educational project technology. The technology is based on a methodologically verified system of regional, national and international competitions, championships of student project teams – developers of high-tech engineering systems. In the annual life cycle, the technique involves design of the system by students according to a particular task, making its prototype, testing its sample, demonstrating it in action, and a rating competition with similar design developments in physical modeling of extreme situations. Based on personal experience of a BMSTU professor - mentor of a student team, the author provides a well-reasoned proof that Russian students who know the basics of automated design technologies - CAD, CAM, CAE, CASE, CALS - and who have 3D-printers are able to successfully compete with professional teams of top foreign universities.
Application of collection of mechanisms in teaching mechanism design
# 06, June 2009 This paper reports an application of mechanism models in teaching activity. In particular, Bauman Moscow State Technical University has a significant collection of historical and modern mechanisms. A quick survey of other significant collections of mechanisms is also reported in the text. Then, possible applications of the above-mentioned models for studying and teaching mechanisms design is discussed by referring to experiences at Bauman Moscow State Technical University and at LARM in Cassino
Converter L/VHF for an amateur radio communication
# 04, April 2009 The description of a radio intake which is used on Collective radio station of MGTU of Bauman is presented. The device is intended for supervision over work of amateur radio stations in a range of 1260-1300 MHz.
