This article presents a possibility of applying optical methods - for instance, a method of infrared diaphanoscopy, to detect inflammation in tissues of a mouth cavity at the stage of primary damage. The authors investigated the main exogenous and endogenous factors of inflammatory diseases of mouth cavity tissues, the mechanism of their emergence and expansion; the behavior of tissues’ optical and physical properties in the mouth cavity at various stages of inflammation was demonstrated; interrelation of those properties with the change in chromophore concentration with the expansion of the inflammatory process was also revealed.

Differential count is one of the main stages of a blood test. In this paper the authors consider methods of determining the formula of white blood on the basis of images of medications, the method of segmentation of nuclei and cytoplasm, and features used for classification.

Problems of analysis of renal epithelium cytological specimens’ images, stained by silver nitrate (AgNOR-stained) are considered. Attribute space to describe the nuclei of cells by their images is formed. Nuclei classes, providing the differentiation of norm, reactive, benign and malignant modifications are defined. The nuclei geometric and textural characteristics on AgNOR-stained cytological specimens were used for morphofunctional state analysis of the cells and for the diagnostics.
