Calculated parameters of a draw band twisted joint
Engineering Education # 07, July 2013
DOI: 10.7463/0713.0582853
In this article for the first time the authors consider a method of determination of basic parameters of electrical-installation binding by wire wrapping which ensures higher reliability and durability compared with soldered joints. The method is based on a use of physical processes occurring during this kind of installation. The results of the analysis allowed to determine the basic parameter – that is the radius of the wrapping roller’s working end. Experimental data on the value of the deformation degree of a real wrapping wire were used to estimate the study result. The obtained results can be used to calculate a wrapping tool.

About electrodiffusion wear
Engineering Education # 12, December 2012
DOI: 10.7463/1212.0486388
In this article the authors consider the basic questions of electrodiffusion physics. At cold plastic deformation, heat warms up the workpiece and the tool which are being machined, which, with different contact potential difference of the workpiece material and of the tool, generates an electromotive force (thermo-voltage) which usually increases along with increasing strain and temperature of contacting materials. The experimental data presented in this paper show that during the process of cold deformation of metals there occur thermocurrents from cutting (a related processing) which promote intensive tool wear. With the exclusion of their influence, tool life is increased by several times.
Tool radius in wire-wrap method
Engineering Education # 10, October 2012
DOI: 10.7463/1012.0465668
In this article the authors consider a well-known but still theoretically not grounded wire-wrap method. To solve this problem, the authors use actual conditions for formation and ensuring a hard close contact of connected elements, - namely, their elastic-plastic deformation and expected state of the process at the final moment. The authors supposed that provision of this contact will be achieved if the contact stress on the surface of the connected elements is not less than the elastic limit value and not higher than the ultimate stress value of the contacting materials. The paper presents the data for estimation by calculating the radius of the winding cylinder. Thus, radius of the winding cylinder is defined. Previously, this problem was solved only by selection.
